The Cooling Industry Awards 2006, now in its third year, continues to grow from strength to strength.
Major end users joined RAC professionals from across the industry to celebrate excellence at the Royal Lancaster, Lancaster Gate on the 4th of October 2006.
RAC magazine, the events organisers’ said that the standard of entries to this year's event was exceptional, and 12 outstanding winners among whom are some of the world's biggest retailers and organisations.
Transformation depends on developing new technologies and approaches that are kinder to the environment and make commercial sense.
The aim in launching the awards was to provide a national stage upon which to reward the industry's successes. Now, more than ever, this focus is needed. This year's awards bring together the best of the best the industry has to offer.
TROX AITCS beat off stiff competition to win two awards - Environmental Marketing Campaign and Environmental Pioneer: Air Conditioning.
"It is an amazing achievement to win these two awards, particularly within our first year of trading" said Guy Hutchins, TROX AITCS Sales & Marketing Director. "It's an exciting time for us, especially as we have already developed yet another world first! I have a fantastic team and would like to thank everyone involved for their help in making this possible."
THE AWARDS – Judges Observations Environmental Marketing Campaign
The company ran a highly focussed and organised campaign to launch its new carbon-dioxide-based cooling technology for computer blade server centres. The project was driven from the start by a sharp marketing awareness, first identifying an emerging need among a major customer group, defining the gap in the market, and developing a comprehensive marketing programme to launch the technical solution into the market.
The campaign included all the elements of marketing in a powerful, co-ordinated campaign: direct mail, PR, launch event, roadshows, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, website, endorsements, strategic alliances, and literature. The campaign achieved staggering results for a small investment, firmly establishing the benefits of the new technology with the target buying audience.
Environmental Pioneer: Air Conditioning The deployment of the next generation of high-power super computers, known as blade servers, has been slowed by the inadequacy of existing methods of cooling. A new technology, jointly developed by Trox AITCS and Star Refrigeration, delivers the powerful cooling required – and in an environmentally responsible way.
The CO2 Olrac system harnesses liquid carbon dioxide to cool the intense heat loads produced by the computers, and rejects it via a chiller or directly into a building’s existing CHW system.
The system breaks new ground in terms of both the technology and the application. Savings in power consumption are predicted to be substantial: for a 1MW installation, costs are likely to be reduced by £155,000 a year.
